Rehabilitated Badger by Vale Wildlife Rescue

Vale Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, based near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, recently treated a female badger who was found in the middle of the road. On admission, the badger was not responding well and was bleeding from the mouth. Upon closer inspection, x-rays showed she’d suffered a serious fracture to her lower jaw. Vale wildlife vets carried out surgery and fixed the fracture using cerclage wires. She was treated with antibiotics and pain relief and was put on a diet of soft food for several weeks. After six weeks, she had a second surgery and the wires were removed. Once she’d recovered from the second surgery and given a clean bill of health, she was released back into the wild.
